Hailing from the South Pacific, Tahia Collins has worked continuously in the Tahitian pearl industry since the early 1990′s, when she co-founded the Black Pearl Gem Company on the island of Moorea in French Polynesia.
A former Miss Moorea and model, now mother of two, Tahia makes her home on the island of Moorea where she was born and raised. While she may be based in Moorea, Tahia’s name reaches out to the world through her work and her creations.
Tahia began winning design awards in international jewelry competitions in the early 2000′s, culminating in her most recent honor to be named “Designer of the Year, 2006-2007″ by the prestigious Hawaii Jewelers Association.
In this year’s competition, one of her latest creations, “The Coral Garden,” also took first place in the luxury jewelry category, and “Tear of Joy” took second place for designs under $2,500.
Tahia keeps very busy overseeing a team of 40 employees all the while continuing to create the elegant designs found in her boutiques and online at www.TahiaCollins.com.
Fluent in French, English, and Tahitian (Reo Maohi), Tahia meets with all her staff personally and works closely with her senior management on the company’s ongoing success and development.
