The Script:
Good morning, my name is Timi.
I am from Raiatea. An island near Tahiti
I have been working here, for over thirteen years now
The first thing we do after breakfast, is go diving to get the oysters.
It is beautiful to dive in the morning.
Next.
We take them to the farm to be cleaned.
Cleaning the oysters by the fish,
gives us more beautiful pearls
Afterwards, we open the oysters, and choose the most beautiful for the graft tissue. After an Incision with my scalpel, I insert the nucleus, then the graft tissue.
The oyster is then drilled, and tied to the cord,
then placed in a protective mesh basket
In the evening, we dive again to take the oysters back to the lines.
Nearly a year and a half will transpire, before the birth of the black tahitian pearls.
